and Healing
We care for the spirit and heart of Mother Earth!
In the Iku language, Zaku means mother, and Kwariwan means the place where life is woven. That’s why, when we speak of «casa madre» (mother house), we wanted to create a place of healing — a place to tell our stories, to explore life’s relationship with the cosmos, a place to connect with ourselves; there we gather the seed for our lives and our families, to strengthen our spiritual path.
An intercultural human weave
We are an intercultural training center formed by the Izquierdo family, of the Bintukwa Aruhaco people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with a focus on the pedagogy of Mother Earth. We are also supported by health professionals and volunteers who nurture learning, care, and the conservation of life in all its forms.
Zaku Kwariwan is the house where life is woven — here we offer a space for connection and healing for all our visitors.

At Zaku Kwariwan, a circle of service and awareness comes together — an intercultural human weave that honors the wisdom of the original peoples and the deep calling to heal and remember who we are.
Our working group is made up of guardians of the path, each one holding a thread of the great weave of life.

Practices and spaces for healing
Each practice responds to a different need in the process: purification, word, territory, medicine. All are offered within the framework of tradition and with the family’s direct guidance.
Yagé ceremonies
Ancestral medicine guided by taitas and knowledge-keepers, within the cultural framework of the tradition.
Temazcal
Entering the womb of Mother Earth: heat, steam, and ancestral songs as a space of purification.
Harmonization with medicinal plants
Plant baths and plant-guided support for physical and energetic cleansing.
Talking circles
Spaces of listening to share, express, and transform inner experience.
Ethnobotanical walk
A guided walk through the territory to learn about its flora and biocultural history.
Full moon gatherings
A ceremonial offering to Mother Earth in tune with the natural cycles.
Musical concert and talking circle
Music and an instrument workshop as part of the process of connection.
Womb healing
A specific healing practice offered within the family’s guidance.

A four-day intercultural retreat — December 17–20, 2026. Don’t just come to see a place. Come to listen to it.
Temazcal, a mindful walk, plant baths, talking circles, and a nighttime ceremony oriented toward introspection, accompanied by traditional knowledge-keepers, on the sacred territories of Utibunna and Zaku Kwariwan.

Every gathering is held under the traditional authority and lineage of the Izquierdo family. Spots are deliberately limited: we prefer an intimate, well-accompanied space over a large one.
